Of course we don’t have blizzards or man eating marsupials, although I’m sure I saw this bloke at the mall the other day that looked closely related to a man eating marsupial…. Anyway, as we never have to hunt for food in blizzards, okay, yes, the morning crowd at a sale in Aldi does bring out the caveman in some, we really don’t need to store extra fat to survive the next few months like our ancestors did, because now food is trapped inside cardboard and plastic with any fight in it mechanically removed.
Even if you sit and lecture your belly button for hours on end your body won’t believe this, so we must be smart to beat the 2kg gain that everyone will get over winter if they don’t work to prevent i. Sorry, yes it is scientifically proven to be a gain of approximately 2kg per person!
So here comes the long dark months, where we feel sadder and slower than normal and want to cover our bodies and become large blob like objects without shape or form. We all look soft, squishy, puffy and padded in places where we definitely shouldn’t look squishy and padded.
We wear fake fur to keep us warm when we should moving like real animals to create our own heat and to burn those excess stodgy food calories that we think we must consume to “comfort” us all the while hibernating from the imaginary Bribie blizzard.
Ahhhhh but how comforted are you going to feel when you peel away the padding in spring and discover that those enormous squishy bits weren’t your clothes! Suddenly you are facing a mirror and seeing your own soft, squishy and puffy body, that’s transparent white from being kept under cover. Wow bet you can’t wait to show that off in spring!
So what do I do??? I hear you say…. Ahhh small transparent squishy one, let me tell you that there are amongst us the clever ones and you can become a clever one too!
These geniuses know that the absolutely perfect time to exercise is in winter! Not when it’s time for the beach, not when spring springs and not when it’s too hot to move in summer because by then its wayyyyyy tooooo late. Noooooo, the right, smart, bestest ever time to exercise is NOW! While your body is doing its best to double in size you should be moving more and enjoying the internal warmth you get from exercising. Turn those squishy bits into bits that you will want to flaunt as soon as your thongs are dug out for spring.
And don’t forget those winter blues, exercising now will stop those blues from dragging you into a fog of unhappiness and even comfort food, exercise will make you happy and healthier right through winter or you could just start saving for new larger clothes in spring.
